Rev. Mark Jordan
Camp Aurora Director
Mark Jordan serves on the No Greater Love Advisory Board, and has served with NGL at Mardi Gras for well over 30 years. Mark was called into pastoral ministry on the Gulf Coast during the NGL Mardi Gras Outreach in 1989, and has been serving as a United Methodist pastor ever since. The desire of Mark’s heart is for the men of Aurora to experience God in new and powerful ways, and take their new-found passion home for all to see.
Rev. Phil Nelson
Camp Aurora Teaching Pastor
Phil Nelson has been pastor of Lakeland Baptist Church in Carbondale for the past thirteen years. He can be heard weekly preaching on the campus of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Phil’s first trip to Mardi Gras was in February of 1980. It was through No Greater Love that he learned to engage people in the open air and found his love of preaching, One of the quotes Phil remembers fondly from the founder of NGL is, “God is more impressed with HIs Word than your commentary on it.” Phil will be teaching through Ephesians 2 this year at Mardi Gras. It promises to be a year you will not want to miss.
Camp Aurora Outreach Coordinator
Michael is husband to Maria and father to James and Thomas. He is in sales during the day and owns a Martial Arts studio at night. He strives to serve the Lord in all he does, and sometimes he’s successful. He enjoys riding motorcycles, breaking bricks, making balloon animals and spending time with his wife and family. He’s a deacon at Lakeland Baptist Church in Carbondale, IL.
Camp Aurora Worship Director
Scott is husband to Hillary, and father to Morgan, Emmie and Drew. He is the Worship Pastor of New Horizon Church and is an accomplished worship leader, band leader and professional musician. He has a passion for Jesus, Hillary, his girls, men’s discipleship, BBQ and the St. Louis Cardinals. Scott has led worship for NGL and Camp Aurora for nearly ten years.
Rev. Grant Armstrong
Camp Aurora Administrative Coordinator
Grant is husband to Amy, and father to Lilli, Clara and Theo. He is a United Methodist pastor in Rushville, IL. He loves spending time with his family and sharing the love of Christ with people. Sometimes he does that while playing guitar, riding a motorcycle, or eating beignets.
Rev. Mike Potts
Camp Aurora Treasurer
Mike is married to Jamee and has a daughter named Allison. Mike’s background includes business ownership, corporate management and not-for-profit leadership. He is currently a United Methodist Executive Pastor in Champaign, IL. Mike has been part of NGL for 7 years and has experienced in NOLA the power of Christ’s life changing power both personally and in other men’s lives. He enjoys blues music, cooking and anything outside especially at a forest, lake, river or ocean.
Camp Aurora Meal Coordinator
Brent, “Phelpsy,” is husband to Morgan, and father to Scott and Taylor. He is a Camp Aurora veteran with years of street ministry experience. Brent is owner of the Award winning competition barbecue cooking team, Holy Smokers. Brent and the Holy Smokers provide outstanding meals for our camp and “Connect People to Jesus, one RIB at a time.”
